Terms of Service
The Short Version
The Lucid Cove code is open source and yours to run; these Terms cover the services we operate, not the code. A Cove on your own hardware is yours: your data, your rules, your responsibility. The Market sells real things at posted prices. Platform credits are promotional and have no cash value. Tuning is a practice, not a treatment. The sections below say all of this precisely; where this summary and a section differ, the section governs.
1. Who We Are and What You Are Agreeing To
These Terms govern your use of the services operated by Lucid Principles, LLC ("Lucid Principles," "we," "us"): the Lucid Tuner application at app.lucidcove.org, hosted Lucid Cove services, the Haven network services (address claims, mesh coordination, the Knowledge Base drop, federation directory), and the Haven Market. By creating an account or using these services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.
The Lucid Cove software itself is open source and separately licensed under the Apache License 2.0. That license, not these Terms, governs your use of the code. These Terms govern the services we run.
2. Self-Hosted Coves
If you run Lucid Cove on your own hardware: the software is provided under its open-source license, as is, without warranty. Your Cove, your data, and your backups are yours and your responsibility. When your self-hosted Cove uses our network services (claiming an address, joining the mesh, subscribing to the Knowledge Base, using the Market), those specific interactions are governed by these Terms. We may change or discontinue network services, and we will give reasonable notice where practical.
3. Accounts and Handles
You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Operator handles and Cove names are permanent identifiers and cannot be changed after registration. Certain names are reserved by the system. Do not squat on, stockpile, or claim names in bad faith, impersonate others, or claim names that infringe someone else's rights; we may reclaim names that are abandoned, infringing, or abusively claimed. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account with our hosted services. Family members' presences on a self-hosted Cove are created and managed by that family on their own system. If you allow a minor to use your Cove, you do so as the responsible adult operator, and you are responsible for supervising that use and for any consent the law requires. If you operate a Cove that others use, you accept these Terms on their behalf and are responsible for their use.
4. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Refunds
Prices are shown at checkout in US dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel, on the interval shown at checkout (for example, mirror subscriptions billed yearly, or monthly plans). You can cancel any time from your account, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. If a renewal price increases, we will tell you before you are charged.
Refunds: digital purchases are refundable within 14 days of purchase on request if they have not been substantially used. Services (such as calls) are refundable until delivered. Compute purchases (such as GPU windows) are refundable if unused. Contact us and we will make it right where we reasonably can.
5. The Haven Market
Lucid Principles sells its own listings on the Market. Third-party sellers may offer listings in the future; those listings are the responsibility of their sellers, and we provide the venue, payment processing, and the entitlement system. "Wanted" listings are invitations for builders, not commitments by us to build. The "Tuned + Safe" indicator reflects a seller's participation in the tuning practice at the time shown; it is informational and is not a warranty or endorsement of any listing.
External listings (marked with a link-out) are fulfilled entirely by the destination site under its own terms.
6. Affiliate Program and Platform Credits
Affiliate commissions accrue as platform credits (LPC) at the rates posted at the time of the qualifying sale. Platform credits are promotional ledger entries, have no cash value, are not transferable except through platform features, and cannot currently be redeemed for cash. A future redemption program, if offered, will have its own terms. Self-referrals and manufactured transactions do not qualify. We may adjust program rates prospectively.
7. Compute Services
Purchased compute (such as GPU windows) may be used only for lawful workloads. Do not submit workloads that involve illegal content, attacks on other systems, or attempts to access other customers' data. We do not inspect job content in the ordinary course of operation, and we may act on abuse.
8. Acceptable Use
Across all services, you may not: violate applicable law; transmit malware; infringe others' rights; harass or abuse others through federation, chat, or the Market; impersonate any person or entity; manipulate the affiliate program, listings, or safety indicators; attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the services or other Coves.
One absolute line: content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits minors is strictly prohibited everywhere these services reach, and we report it to authorities as the law requires.
9. Your Content
You own the content you create. For hosted services, you grant us only the license needed to operate them: to store, transmit, back up, and display your content to you and to those you share it with. Content you deliberately publish (public listings, public profiles, public tunings) may be displayed publicly as part of the service. If you sell on the Market, you are responsible for having the rights to what you sell.
10. The Practice, and What the Agents Are
Tuning is a reflective and creative practice. It is not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a treatment for any condition. Agents are intelligence software: they make mistakes, and their output is not professional advice of any kind. You are responsible for decisions you make using the services. If you are experiencing a crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
When you connect a model provider (including with your own API key), your prompts and content go to that provider under its own terms and privacy practices. You are responsible for your account with them.
11. Intellectual Property
The Lucid Cove software is licensed under Apache 2.0. The Lucid Principles Canon (the twenty-two works and associated framework texts) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 where so marked. Lucid Principles, Lucid Cove, Lucid Tuner, and associated marks and logos are trademarks of Lucid Principles, LLC and are not licensed under either of those licenses. You may run and modify the software, but you may not use our names or logos in a way that suggests your instance, product, or service is operated, endorsed, or certified by Lucid Principles. All other content on our sites and services is the property of Lucid Principles, LLC or its licensors.
Copyright complaints: send notices to the contact below with the material identified and your good-faith statement; we respond to valid notices and may terminate repeat infringers.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lucid Principles, LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep backups.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lucid Principles, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising from the services is limited to the greater of fifty dollars ($50) or the amounts you paid us for the services in the twelve months before the claim arose.
14. Indemnification
You will indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lucid Principles, LLC from claims arising out of your content, your listings, your workloads, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
15. Termination
You may stop using the services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms. Sections that by their nature survive (including 9, and 11 through 14) survive termination. Your self-hosted Cove keeps working regardless; it is yours.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms. We will post the updated Terms with a new "Last Updated" date, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify account holders. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Georgia.
